May Buell Park Proposed Maintenance Plan and Budget
The primary components of the maintenance plan for the proposed park are landscape maintenance (mowing, leaf pick-up, and beach maintenance), pumping and cleaning of restrooms, trash and recycle pick up, and miscellaneous maintenance activities. Those activities are proposed to be completed as described below.
Landscape Maintenance
Weekly mowing and autumn leaf pick-up will be conducted by a local lawn care contractor. Beach maintenance, which entails picking up debris that washes up on the beach and shoreline restoration of damage periodically caused by ice, will be conducted as necessary during the months of April through September.
Pumping and Cleaning of Restroom
One handicap accessible restrooms will be provided for the months of April through September and will be pumped and cleaned as, including filling of hand sanitizer dispenser.
Trash and Recycle Pick-up
Two trash containers will be provided at the park and will be emptied twice weekly by a township employee or volunteer. Trash will be held in a location to be determined until township trash pick-up day, which is twice a month. Two recycle bins will be provided in the park and will be to recycle plastic, glass and plastic. These containers will be emptied twice weekly and materials taken to the recycle containers at the township transfer station.
Miscellaneous Maintenance
Miscellaneous maintenance will be conducted as needed for such things as tree limb removal, parking lot or walkway maintenance, fence and sign repair, beach sand replenishment, and picnic table, barbeque grill, and bench maintenance.
Annual Budget
The annual budget for maintenance of May Buell Park is:
a. Mowing and leaf pick-up;
Estimated cost per year for contracting: $1,000.
b. Trash removal and recycling;
Cost to have township employee or volunteer empty bins twice weekly (6 months): $660.
c. Restrooms;
Cost per month for one restroom that will be handicap accessible from April through September (6 months) @ $225/mo.: $1,350.
d. Beach maintenance;
Clean up of debris that periodically washes up on the beach by a township employee or volunteer weekly for 6 months $340.
e. Miscellaneous maintenance budget.
$1,000/year
The total budget estimate for the park is $ 5,350 per year. These funds will be allocated in the Pleasanton Township Budget each year.
